Facility Management Corporation, known as “FMC Ice Sports” was formed in 1992 to deliver high quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in both hockey and skating. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice skating arenas across the state of Massachusetts in partnership agreements with the Commonwealth and various municipalities as well as educational institutions.

Working under the direction of the VP of Maintenance and Operations, the Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining arena refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans and expansion valves. Other responsibilities include routine preventative maintenance to ensure efficient operation of building systems and to prevent deterioration of the physical condition of the buildings. This position will work alone and with other positions as required by the maintenance projects schedule. Work schedule will include nights, weekends and some holidays as necessary to meet the needs of our facilities, patrons and to complete job responsibilities.

Full-time position. Eligible for medical, dental, vision, HSA, 401K and earned time after eligibility period is met.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial, residential or food service equipment or completion of refrigeration / HVAC trade school.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration equipment.
  • Must be a self-starter with ability and willingness to work on a variety of projects/tasks.
  • Current possession of related licenses and/or certifications (hoisting, OSHA 10-hour, etc.) or ability to obtain them.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must consent to a CORI/SORI and background check.
  • Must consent to a Motor Vehicle Check as you will have use of a company vehicle.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide service to arena refrigeration systems, including installing, servicing, repairing, and replacing parts; participating in preventative maintenance schedules; and performing minor calibrations.
  • Perform system checks, system troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
  • Perform electrical and refrigerant system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain records including daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports and service records.
  • Research and resolve complex system problems.
  • Complete assigned paperwork and forms.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Senior Refrigeration Technician and VP of Maintenance and Operations.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
